"British Columbia promotes an inclusive education system in which students with special needs are fully participating members of a community of learners. Inclusion describes the principle that all students are entitled to equitable access to learning, achievement and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their educational programs. The practice of inclusion is not necessarily synonymous with full integration in regular classrooms, and goes beyond placement to include meaningful participation and the promotion of interaction with others."

Many rural schools face a number of challenges when it comes to meeting the needs of a diverse group of learners. Issues such as isolation, access to specialists, funding, and the hiring and retaining qualified or experienced special educators are but a handful of examples. A major aim of the development of this website is to introduce visitors to the models of action research and directed consultation. It is hoped that these frameworks might be utilized to address some of the challenges schools and educators are facing, with consideration given to the uniqueness of their circumstances.

About Me
I have been working in the field of education for approximately 15 years. My experiences have ranged from a Juniour Kindergarten to Grade 8 teacher to principal. I am also currently finishing the Masters of Special Education program through Vancouver Island University.
Purpose
The purpose of this website is to provide educators with an introduction to the models of action research and consultation to support them with inclusive practices. Both of these models serve as methods for teachers to address issues of concern, and focus on their unique contexts. An example of how they might be coordinated is provided on the ARC in PRTI page.
About the Site
The site contains links to videos to introduce visitors to inclusion, action research, and directed consultation. It also contains links to free resources, materials for purchase, and websites that I have found useful.

Locating AR and DC in a PRtI framework is a model under development. Input regarding its use or refinement is welcomed.
